Choosing Metal Pallets and Designing Bespoke Solutions
What does a metal pallet do?
Metal pallets support the movement, stacking and organised storage of goods in manufacturing and warehousing. Selecting a suitable pallet involves more than its outer dimensions: the weight, centre of gravity, contact area and movement of the load must be considered together.
Materials and handling compatibility
The choice of steel, stainless steel or aluminium depends on the operating environment, cleaning requirements, impact exposure and handling weight. Forklift and pallet truck access, use on racking and stacking conditions should be defined during design. Compatibility with every lifting method should never be assumed.
Designing a bespoke pallet
Where standard sizes are unsuitable, the frame, sheet thickness, support points and load restraints can be designed around the application. Lifting eyes and tie-down points are included only where required and technically assessed. Load capacity is established through evaluation of the completed design.
Rampel approaches metal pallets, aluminium pallets and profile transport pallets as part of the wider logistics flow. Sharing product dimensions, intended loads, quantities and existing handling equipment helps establish a suitable project brief.
